Traditional and progressive therapies for you and the ones you love

The Wheel of Wellbeing's Psychotherapy program is as diverse and impactful as the issues that create anxiety, depression and stress in your life. Even the healthiest body cannot thrive with a troubled and confused outlook on life.  We offer a full spectrum of psychological assessments, testing, educational counseling, marriage and family counseling, and treatments, including psychiatric services and medication support.

Psychotherapy

We offer counseling for individuals of all ages, including children, adolescents, couples, family, and groups.  Accomplished specialists from both traditional and progressive psychological disciplines can create a personalized program specific to your needs.  We utilize research based Psychotherapy, Guided Imagery, Neuro/Bio-feedback and other leading edge modalities.

Here at the Wheel of Wellbeing we recommend EMDR and Somatic Psychotherapy treatments for trauma, PTSD and other debilitating conditions to calm the nervous system.  Psychodynamic therapy is also suggested to help people come to terms with childhood experiences that affect their adult lives.

Treatments are also available through our customized programs for:

EMDR

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of psychotherapy that was developed to resolve symptoms resulting from disturbing and unresolved life experiences.  EMDR is a gentle procedure which involves rapid eyes movements in the client while a traumatic memory is recalled and processed.  This technique lessens the amount of therapeutic time needed to process and resolve traumatic memories.

EMDR uses specific psychotherapeutic procedures to

1) access existing information
2) introduce new information
3) facilitate information processing and integration.

Guided Imagery

Guided imagery is based on the concept that your body and mind are connected. By using a program that engages all your senses, the therapist’s directed thoughts and suggestions guide you toward a peaceful, relaxed, and focused meditative state.

You can achieve a relaxed state when you focus only the details of a safe, comfortable place, such as a beach or a garden. This relaxed state may aid healing, learning, creativity, and performance. It may help you feel more in control of your emotions and thought processes, which may improve your overall attitude, consideration of your health, and a sense of wellbeing or joy.

Hypnotherapy
Hypnotherapy is a technique that uses the hypnotic state, which enables changes in perception and memory, a major increase in response to suggestion, and the potential for controlling many physiological functions that are usually involuntary.  Hypnotherapy uses guided relaxation, intense concentration, and focused attention to achieve a heightened state of awareness.  Hypnotherapy is beneficial in transforming a subject's behavior, emotional content, and attitudes, as well as a wide range of conditions including dysfunctional habits (such as smoking, or weight gain), anxiety, stress-related illness, pain management, and personal development.

NLP

NLP stands for Neuro-Linguistic Programming.  The neurological system regulates how our bodies function, language determines how we interface and communicate with other people, and our programming determines the kinds of models of the world we create.  This coding affects all communication and behavior.  NLP is a behavioral technology, meaning it is a set of guiding principles, attitudes, and techniques, that allows you to change, adopt or eliminate behavior as you desire, and gives you the ability to choose your mental, emotional, and physical states of wellbeing.

Somatic Psychotherapy (SP)

Somatic Psychotherapy is a gentle, effective short term therapy that allows the nervous system to release stress and trauma through body awareness.  While participating in SP the patient is able to release negative trapped energy, old emotions, disturbing thoughts and images.  By accessing the body's inner wisdom. old coping patterns and habits are transformed into fresh, positive behaviors allowing for a more balanced and healthy life.

Integrative Psychiatry

A comprehensive medical approach to psychiatric conditions that examines and considers the entire spectrum of variables affecting an individual patient. Integrative Psychiatry is an approach that uses both conventional medicine and holistic approaches to mental health. This type of approach embraces all aspects of a person: mind, body, spirit and environment.
