Larry is a Los Angeles based licensed psychotherapist, with a PhD in clinical psychology. His specialty is working with adults traumatized as children, integrating somatic experiencing, EMDR, and relational psychotherapy. Larry has over 25 years experience with individuals and couples, developing an innovative process working with couples using somatic psychotherapy. He has a passion for teaching, training and mentoring interns and professionals, integrating the body, mind, and neurobiology. He is an AAMFT approved supervisor, training interns at the Hollywood YMCA Counseling Center.  He has also served as an adjunct faculty member at Antioch University and Ryokan College, where he has taught alternative methods of healing as well as neurobiology and developmental psychology. Dr. Shaw has been featured in national and local newspapers and television such as the Los Angeles Times, Cable Health News and the NBC nightly news. He has spoken at various universities and colleges, such as Harvard, Oberlin, Western Women's College, and UC Santa Barbara,on the subject of integrating mind and body.  Larry devotes time with various volunteer organizations as a Disaster Mental Health worker, responding to natural and man made disasters.  He has participated in training therapists in Rwanda and New Orleans after hurricane Katrina.  He has been an avid surfer for 50 years as well as a practicing Buddhist since his early twenties.  Larry has recently discovered the physical and emotional benefits of his own yoga practice.Dr. Shaw sees the Wheel of Wellbeing on the cutting edge of creating a new perspective on health in America. He feels that the collaborative environment at the Wheel creates the perfect bridge between western and eastern modalities.
